Clean Skincare That Actually Works
While my makeup selection is minimal (tinted moisturizer + mascara), I can't claim to be a minimalist when it comes to skincare. And I'm totally okay with it – because I LOVE skincare. Serums, toners, masks, moisturizers... even tools – I love it all. My daily routines feel like a huge form of self care, which I strongly believe benefits my skin from the inside, out. It also helps when the products actually work...
Here's a roundup of my favorite clean skincare (a few body products too) that have made a noticeable difference.
Morning:
While I'm making my tea, I put on eye patches by Goop. I drink my tea, make some lunches then head to take a shower. I keep them in my fridge – so they're extra cold and shrink those eye bags extra quick ;)
I dry brush my body before a shower – any dry brush will do. I love Tata Harper's brush because it has a handle that makes it easy to hold onto.
After dry brushing, in the shower I use The Body Wash by Nerra.
I don't wash my face in the morning, I just rinse it. My skin is way too dry to wash twice a day.
After the shower I use Nerra's Dry Body Oil. My skin drinks it up, and I love the smell. This right here sets the tone for my day – I take care of myself so I can take care of 3 kids, a household, an extremely needy dog, a business... all the things.
In the morning I use a Vetted Dermalab's M1 light moisturizer. I follow that with a tinted SPF moisturizer, mascara... and if I'm feeling extra fancy, a dab of cream blush.
My morning routine is a lot simpler than evening... mostly because morning's with 3 kids don't leave me a lot of time to do anything.
Evening:
Depending on how much time I have, I try to use my Ziip Halo device – it uses microcurrent and nanocurrent to tighten and firm. I've used other similar devices in the past, and this one definitely provides results I've actually noticed.
Next, Cleanser by Vetted Dermalab. It's gentle, removes makeup, but doesn't strip my skin.
I love a solid serum. My favorite is Vetted Dermalab's Retinoid Serum.
Last, I put on a nice thick moisturizer to get my skin through the night and help me semi-look like I've actually slept (which typically, I haven't much since Ozzy and Jossy like to push me to the edge of my bed or sleep on me). My nightly favorite is Vetted Dermalab's M2 Rich Moisturizer.
I have tried a red light mask before, but honestly, I didn't notice any difference and I just ended up scaring my kids ;)
Up next on the Blog... my favorite self-care routines.
